more on possible martian life via bbc: Methane lives for a short time in the Martian atmosphere so it must be being constantly replenished. There are two possible sources: either active volcanoes, none of which have been found yet on Mars, or microbes.

What the heck? Our local public radio station, KUT, is having its annual pledge drive (grrr…). I’ve gotten used to them repeating their phone number until I can hear it in my sleep (471-6291) but today they played a cut of Ladysmith Black Mambazo singing their phone number. I love this town.
Awwright! I’ve been hired to be the audio lead on a DV feature film called “faith and bullets“. It shoots in June for 12 days and I’m the audio department. Pay is deferred for now (much of the budget goes toward SAG actors and equipment) but the promotions department is working on getting the project sold. The main benefit comes in the form of the tons of contacts I’m making. SXSW was fantastically fertile ground for making contacts and some of my ‘seeds’ are already bearing fruit. Got another possibility out of it but won’t know about that for a while.
