SubStandard

My friends Greg and Rob came over today to help me build my new home theater subwoofer! Greg has some experience with this and Rob wanted to be in a shop for a while to learn about the tools. We spent about 5 hours building the basic box out of 3/4″ MDF. The cube is about 16″ on a side and I’ll end up double-walling it with another layer of MDF (I’ll take pics and post soon). Amazing that this 16″ cube actually uses up a whole 4×8 sheet of MDF! I have to go back and get a little more MDF, but that’s no big deal.

I’ll be ripping my own oak veneer and applying it to the sides. I’ll probably also fill the grain and stain/finish it to match the future entertainment center (a reddish brown Arts and Crafts look).

Oh, the speaker is a 12″ reference sub matched to a 300 watt plate amp. Ultimate power, itty bitty living space. Can’t wait to get this thing running.
