Dinner with Friends

Filed under: Uncategorized — jasony @ 12:19 am

It’s always good to get back in touch with people and relationships we’ve let slip. Erin and I had dinner tonight with Danny and Catherine. Danny made the most awesome shrimp and scallop fettucini dish, with a butter vermouth sauce and a good bottle of Chardonnay. Yowza. We hadn’t seen them since their engagement party about 5 months ago, and then it had been almost a year and a half before that since our last meeting. We saw them more when we lived 100 miles apart. It’s funny, because now they only live 15 minutes from here, but you get busy and out of the habit. Anyway, a good night with them looking at pictures from their France trip and hearing tales of the Tour de France and the Italian guys (beer or vino? beer or vino? VINO!). Thanks a lot, guys.

Speaking of old friends, I got an email from my old river guide trainer Todd. The guy who taught me to row a class V rapid and read the currents and eddies. “The Body” himself (long story). It’s been 11 years since I saw him last, when I sang at his wedding in the Colorado forest in front of an altar he built with his own hands. It was good hearing news about his life since then.

So here’s to old friends too long gone. Pick up the phone or keyboard today and get in touch with somebody you haven’t talked to in a while.
