Maker Faire!

Filed under: Mad Science — jasony @ 12:24 am

Only one more day until Maker Faire Austin! We got our replacement camera just in time (the old Canon 2mp digital camera blew out about a month ago, so I ordered a new 7.1megapixel SD1000. It came in the mail today. Really nice little point and shoot. I just hope the 2gb memory card comes tomorrow. The included 32mb card is kinda small for those giant shots.

Anyway, I’m off to Maker Faire Austin all day Saturday. I’ve been looking forward to this for a long time! Then it’s off to Sean’s for the night and a Sunday spent building things and then blowing them up. If you need me I’ll be in nerd heaven all day.

The convention will feature such attractions as the Swap-O-Rama-Rama recycled fashion show, King of the Fling catapult-building contest, electic musical performances, Food Maker (“Edible Austin”), a magnetic mini-submersible, RoboSpinArt, Bigger Better Hula Hoops, a Diet Coke & Mentos fountain show, daily rocket launches sponsored by Estes-Cox, countless circuit bending and robotics projects, and a million other things to do and see and make. While many if not most activities might appeal to the average GeekKid, one especially jumped out at me: “Engineering Activities for Kids” put on by the ASCE. Also, now-legendary GeekKid and iPhone-hacker George Hotz will be in attendance.

I’ll be going solo all day and spending hours just soaking it in. Can’t wait!
