Charted

Filed under: Music — jasony @ 11:39 am

I reached a milestone today when I finished all charting for Sing 2009!

Interesting chart stats:

Total Measures: 11290 (“active frames”- not including empty measures)

Master Scores: 156 pages

Parts: 230 pages

Total pages: 386

Length of show: approx 4 hours with intermissions and time between acts. If you played it straight through with no breaks, it’s almost exactly 2 hours of music.

*WHEW*!

I still have to assemble the musician folders, which means copying and dealing with 600+ pages, and I also have to mix and master the final tracks for those acts that have additional music, but finishing the charts represents a major milestone in the months long process of creating the show.

I’m taking a few days off!

  2. Deal! But it may be awhile. I just mixed the first 1:26 track and it took me two hours!
I’ve decided my kaisen this year is to notch out all of the tracks to accommodate the vocalists- to EXACTLY accommodate the vocalists. I’m going back to the sheet music and taking the exact frequencies of the melody into account and then compensating for overtones, then notching out the final mixes to leave room for the voice. It’s totally anal and completely overboard, but I’m curious if it’ll make the vocals easier to hear.
Of course, if the audio guys bump the mic down 2db or turn the track up 2db it’ll all be for naught. Sigh.
